Abstract

1. 1. The tonotopic arrangement of the nucleus angularis of the pigeon's medulla has been demonstrated. 2. 2. Auditory units, when stimulated by low-frequency tones, exhibit periodic firing on interspike interval histograms. 3. 3. Firing patterns to frequency-modulated tonal stimuli have been shown as symmetrical and nonsymmetrical with regard to rising or falling tones. 4. 4. In some cases inhibitory response patterns have been shown at both low and high frequency sides of the threshold-frequency curve.
