Abstract

H2/CO clean fuels produced by solar-driven thermochemical H2O/CO2 splitting provides an alternative to fossil fuels as well as mitigates global warming. The success of this technology relies on the advancements of redox materials, and ceria has been regarded as a promising one for its some advantages. In this study, a new porous framework ceria was developed, which has the characteristics of two-stage pores, the porosity up to 90%. To promote the thermal reduction process, the ceria is modified by heterogeneous metal ions doping, which can cause lattice distortion and improve thermal reduction performance significantly. The effects of heterogeneous metal ions on structure and thermal reduction performance were explored.
