Unique definitions for the band strength and the electronic-vibrational dipole moment of diatomic molecular radiative transitions

Abstract

Unique definitions of the band strength and the electronic-vibrational dipole moment are inferred from a recently published fundamental discussion on the line strength of rotational transitions in diatomic molecules. In addition, consistent relations between these quantities and the transition probability or oscillator strength are presented.
