Abstract

The potential advantages of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for children include better cosmetic outcomes and reduced risk of postoperative musculoskeletal deformities. The uniportal approach is expected to promote minimally invasive surgery and help reduce the incidence of postoperative musculoskeletal deformities. Uniportal VATS was performed safely in three children (mean age of 23.3months) with congenital pulmonary airway malformation or extralobar pulmonary sequestration. Our findings suggest that minimally invasive lobectomy may be achieved through uniportal VATS in children.
