Abstract

The near uncountable issues, The United Nations is expected to tackle each day can only be termed ‘incontrovertibly’ as: improbably all embracing. A sentiment has been expressed that “if the UN did not exist, it would be necessary to invent it.” More often than not however, the UN is pelted with criticism for everything from waning leadership, malfeasance, corruption, impotence, to largely being irrelevant. How justified are those criticisms? How mission-centered is the UN, and how well is it organized to perform it’s duties? This Invited Policy Treatise represents the results of an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary review of UN’s operational capabilities. In addition, pathways to next levels of responsible human development through the cooperation of Scientific Communities within UN Member States and by the utility of Science are also presented.
