Abstract

Recurrent exotropia is common following horizontal rectus muscle surgery for monocular constant sensory exotropia. Surgery is limited to avoid operating on the better-seeing eye. Simultaneous oblique weakening surgery may enhance the effect of the horizontal rectus muscles surgery by decreasing the abducting oblique force. We report the results of simultaneous inferior and superior oblique muscle weakening procedures combined with horizontal muscle recession/resection for large angle constant monocular sensory exotropia greater than 35Δ.
