Abstract
Background: A plenty of options have been described forreconstruction of large myelomeningocele defects. We reportedour experience of using bipedicled subcostal and lumbararteries perforator flap.Material and Methods: During a period of 31 months 23neonates with large myelomeningocele defects were reconstructedwith unilateral bipedicled subcostal and lumbar arteryperforator flaps. We did not report any total flap loss.Results: Only one flap suffered distal necrosis that becomeswell after debridement and re-suturing. All donor siteswere closed primary.Conclusion: Our study confirmed reliability of bipedicledsubcostal and lumbar artery perforator flaps in reconstructionof large myelomeningocle defects.
