Abstract

Nanopore diameters in porous anodic alumina films were uniformly reduced via facile pulsed voltage anodization method. Spontaneous self-ordering into hexagonal pattern was maintained at pulse frequencies of 0.5–1Hz in both 0.3M oxalic (long-range ordered domains) and 10wt.% sulphuric (incipient short range ordering) acids, and yielded smooth uniform nanochannels of 19±2nm and 8±1nm diameters correspondingly.
