Abstract

A unified explanation is given of the long-standing question of the origin of the low-field magnetoresistance behavior in pure Fe and the more recently observed “large” magnetoresistance effects seen in magnetic layered structures. It is shown that these effects are due to the scattering of the predominant d-conduction electrons at the magnetic boundary between two antiparallel magnetic regions.
