Abstract

We investigate the implications of Capps bootstrap conditions in pion- and kaon baryon scattering in the static model. It is shown that the bootstrap conditions induce a new symmetry of the meson baryon interaction, which gives a connection between the spin and isospin of the baryons. Using this new symmetry, we obtain a generalization of strong coupling theory for arbitrary partial wave and isospin of the mesons. The decay rates of various baryon resonances are calculated and found to be in fair agreement with experiment.
