Abstract

A 6-year-old Black female patient attended the stomatology clinic with her mother, reporting a tumor with 2 months of evolution. During the history of the current illness, the mother described the asymptomatic appearance of the maxillary tumor. On extraoral physical examination, the patient presented an expansion in the middle third of the face (right side). On intraoral physical examination, the patient presented a normochromic/erythematous tumor, smooth, irregular, with a firm consistency located in the alveolar ridge up to the hard palate. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the histologic sections revealed a benign neoplasm of odontogenic origin with ameloblastomatous epithelium that formed cystic cavities and exhibited tumor infiltration in fibrous connective tissue. Computed tomography exam revealed an expansive maxillary lesion. The final diagnosis was a unicystic mural ameloblastoma. The patient was referred to the maxillofacial surgeon, who decompressed the lesion and placed a drain for later enucleation.
