Abstract

This study explores the potential for piezoelectricity in a blend of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) prepared using the solution casting method. Dielectric frequency measurements across a range of 102 to 106 Hz revealed piezoelectric resonance within a broader dielectric relaxation regime. Analysis of the resonance spectra for length and width vibrational modes enabled the determination of the piezoelectric tensor components of the PVDF/PLLA blend. The blend exhibited enhanced ferroelectric polarization reversal, remnant polarization, and coercive field compared to pristine PVDF samples. The piezoelectric constants d31 and d14 (d36 of the blend) were determined. Mechanical drawing and poling techniques were employed to generate multiple piezoelectric constants, allowing for efficient energy harvesting from various directions. This flexible blend offers promising prospects for versatile energy conversion applications.
