Abstract

We describe uniaxial stress experiments on URu 2Si 2 where the stress can be tuned in situ at temperatures down to 50 mK and in an applied field up to 6 T. The magnetic ordering temperature T N and the superconducting temperature T c for uniaxial stress applied along the c-axis are reported as well as the corresponding variation of the upper critical field. The uniaxial stress dependence of T c is initially more substantial than that reported by other authors. Our results however extend to higher stresses at which the stress dependence flattens.
