Abstract
The stress-induced magnetic anisotropy is thought to be one of the origins of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, K u, for Co/Pd multilayer films. The stress is evaluated by measuring the substrate bending during fabrication. To know the distribution of the stress in the film, computer simulations were performed by employing the pair-potentials from the microscopic point of view. It is clarified that K u corresponds well to the average stress in each Co layer.
