Abstract

The acetylene complexes Cp′(CO) 2MC 2H 2 (Cp′ = η 5-C 5H 5, η 5-C 5H 4Me, η 5-C 5Me 5; M = Mn, Re) undergo 1:1 addition reactions with Br 2, HCl and CF 3COOH to give π-olefin complexes Cp′(CO) 2Mn( trans-BrHCCHBr) and Cp′(CO) 2-Mn(XHCCH 2) (X = Cl, CF 3COO), and the η 1-vinyl complex C 5Me 5(CO) 2-(Br)Re(HCCHBr). C 5Me 5(CO) 2MnC 2H 2 and CINO give the vinyl complex C 5Me 5(CO)(NO)Mn(η 1-HCCHCl). All products were identified from their IR, NMR and mass spectra.
