Abstract
ABSTRACTI describe the development of my views from interpersonal psychoanalysis, a development I hold in common with many other relational analysts. I still consider myself both. Both the background from which I grew and the differences we early relational analysts had with standard psychoanalytic technique are described. In the second part of the article I summarize the theory of unformulated experience, including the modifications and elaborations of it that I have made in a new book due to appear at about the same time as this article.
