Abstract

Unenhanced helical CT has made the excretory urogram virtually obsolete in the evaluation of patients presenting to the emergency department with acute flank pain. A case is presented demonstrating yet another advantage of unenhanced helical CT: that of unmasking the clever malingerer who feigns renal colic in order to obtain controlled drugs.
