Abstract

Several scattering chambers have been built 1–3) and each of them brings some progress. However, to supply the maximum of experiments of nuclear physics around the tandem of Saclay, we have built an apparatus which allows the following possibilities: 1. Rotation around the vertical axis of one of 8 targets selected on a rotating circular wheel. 2. Rotation around the vertical axis of a circular tray, supporting the detectors and measurement of the angle to better than ±0.1°. 3. Reduction of the beam by steps of 0.02 mm with 4 slits followed by an anti-scattering tube. 4. Precise remote control of all the functions. 5. Precise remote display on dials of all positions and angles.
