Abstract

A heat transfer analysis of a type of heat exchanger is presented in this paper. The conservation laws are limited to the energy balance equations expressed by the first order partial differential equations system (1) or (2). Similar problems have been considered in the past but the exact solution has not been presented. The analytical solution of the equation system is given in the form (3). The heat exchanger equations are the particular case of this equation system. A similar analysis method can be applied in the theory of recuperators and regenerators. Obtaining the general solution for the extension of the heat exchanger problem increases the number of the physical phenomenons which can be analyzed with the aid of the method presented here. Numerous conservation laws can be described by the differential equations systems discussed in this paper, while the method used allows the analysis of various problems described by this type of equation to be simplified.
