Abstract

Blistering distal dactylitis (BDD) is a rare bullous cutaneous infection usually affecting children. We report a disseminated Streptococcus pyogenes infection in an adult presenting as BDD with associated pneumonia, bacteraemia and osteoarthritis. The S. pyogenes’s strain expressed two streptococcal superantigens (Spe B and Spe C) that might explain that disseminated infection.
