Abstract
Farfield transmitting response, freefield sensitivity, and directivity of large audiofrequency transducers can be obtained directly from measurements made in the near field (Fresnel zone) of a transducer array especially designed to radiate a plane wave of constant amplitude within a portion of the Fresnel zone. The theory of the measurements and of the design of the special measuring array are supported by experimental data. Design data for building suitable measuring arrays are given.
