Abstract

AbstractDespite growing interest in interface designs for mobile applications, research on the use of cute aesthetics in mobile interface design has largely been unexplored. Hence, this research aims to fill this gap by studying perceptions of cute aesthetics in mobile interface designs. Here, cute aesthetics refer to the use of cute design elements and bright colors in the interface designs as they are deemed to be attractive and appealing. A total of 166 participants were recruited to participate in a study to evaluate three sets of cute aesthetic designs. Findings revealed that participants responded favorably toward cute aesthetics and suggest that cute aesthetics is a plausible approach to engaging online mobile users. This study contributes to a better understanding of the conceptualization of cute aesthetics to be used in mobile interface design for the masses.KeywordsCutenessCute aestheticsMobile devicesInterface design
