Abstract

For many years, ERP systems have been adopted by enterprises throughout the world; however, these systems have shown low success rates so far. In addition, technological adoption is considered an important success factor. For this reason, it is relevant to have a broad view of ERP adoption. This study deals with a bibliometric analysis of the last 14 years of research on ERP systems adoption, based on publications from the Web of Science, conducting a statistical analysis going through WOS categories and publication years, passing through a journal relevant analysis and finally a review of the most important literature related to the topic employing a citation analysis approach. These results pursue to find references for future studies in the field of ERP adoption and success in general. We found that the most relevant studies in the field are mainly governed by TAM however, the number of documents associated with the topic poses the need for further research, taking the risk of including different theories used nowadays or hybrid models for adopting ERP or cloud ERP systems.
