Abstract

A statistical approach was taken to understand the nucleation and growth of Pt nanoparticles by galvanic displacement on tin-doped indium oxide. A modified Poisson distribution function was able to not only describe the Pt growth, it also provided insight into the nature of the surface atoms present, which allowed the model to accurately predict the mass and specific oxygen reduction activities for Pt/ITO with increased loading.
