Abstract

Andrzej Więckowski was an Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1985 to 1996 and a Full Professor from 1996 to 2012. Andrzej had a unique ability to attract students to his research group due to his infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy, and excitement for science and cutting-edge experimental approach. This talk will focus on the early years of Andrzej’s tenure at the University of Illinois and his pioneering research in probing the composition and structure of electrocatalytic solid-liquid interfaces using ultra-high vacuum techniques (Figure 1), radiochemistry, and electrochemical nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.Figure 1.
