Abstract

Telemedicine has emerged as a promising solution to improve healthcare accessibility and delivery, particularly in remote and underserved regions like Southwestern Nigeria. However, despite its potential benefits, the adoption of telemedicine in this region faces various challenges. This paper explores the factors influencing telemedicine adoption in Southwestern Nigeria, drawing from existing literature and empirical evidence. Key factors such as infrastructure limitations, technological readiness, regulatory barriers, cultural beliefs, healthcare provider attitudes, and patient acceptance are examined in detail. Understanding these factors is crucial for policymakers, healthcare providers, and technology developers to develop effective strategies for promoting telemedicine adoption and realizing its full potential in improving healthcare outcomes in Southwestern Nigeria.
