Abstract

Learning disabilities are a misunderstood set of conditions experienced by many people. A lack of understanding and knowledge can lead to poorer care for those with learning disabilities and their families. This article is the first in a series that will focus on various aspects of learning disability, including care, policy and links with other areas of health. It will explore the meaning of the term and problems with interpretation.
