Abstract
Abstract This paper is addressed to administrators and those in the university safety and health area responsible for specifying interior finish and furnishings for dormitories, health care facilities, and other campus occupancies. The requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101, Life Safety Code, are discussed as they apply to interior finish. Also discussed are the test procedures used to categorize flamespread and smoke development. Finally, the report discusses the use of fire and flame retardants to achieve some degree of fire safety.
