Abstract
The practice of female genital mutilation conflicts with modern Human Rights norms and serves as a point of conflict as well. Hence, this cultural practice promulgated by those who rely based on cultural rights causes untold pain to the girl child warranting an investigation to determine what are the available legal and institutional framework regulating the practice in Cameroon. Hence, this paper seeks to look at the practice of Female Genital Mutilation in Cameroon, which permits us to look at the origin and types of genital mutilation amongst many other aspects in Cameroon. It does so by reviewing existing literatures relating to Female Genital Mutilation. The ensuing results reveal the various different forms of Female Genital Mutilation and its effects in Cameroon.
