Abstract

A database trigger is a specialized block of PL/SQL code associated with a table operation like insertion, deletion, or updating of a row. When conditions specified within a trigger are met, it is automatically invoked, providing a layer of security by preventing potentially damaging operations on the database. Furthermore, triggers can cascade, meaning one trigger can instigate another. Despite the numerous benefits of triggers, their overuse can lead to complicated dependencies that may prove challenging to manage in expansive applications. Hence, it is prudent to employ triggers judiciously. Keywords: Procedure, Security, Trigger.
