Abstract

An Al–51.6wt%Ge eutectic alloy powder was plasma sprayed onto a silicon bronze substrate. The metastable rhombohedral phase was identified by powder X-ray diffraction and based upon thermal stability of the rhombohedral phase, the undercooling achieved during plasma spraying was determined to be greater than 200 °C.
