Abstract

The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in the public sector has been widely adopted in recent years, with the objective of improving these institutions' organisational efficiency and services. However, the dynamism of governmental rules and specific restrictions on this sector have made ERP project management a task subject to many uncertainties. In this context, this research aims to analyse the application of an Uncertainty Management Software Approach in a Brazilian public organisation's ERP project. The case study was based on qualitative research principles. The research results indicated that it is possible to identify early signs of uncertainty in an ERP project's implementation, including its primary uncertainties and associated risks, which demonstrate the importance of managing these uncertainties in such projects.
