Abstract

An uncertainty and sensitivity analysis was performed on the fog formation rate for non-hygroscopic aerosols calculated with the multi-compartment containment code FIPLOC-M for a VANAM experiment. The uncertainty was found to be moderate. Main contributors were uncertain parameters mainly used in the modelling of the heat and mass transfer onto walls. The ranking of these parameters changed with the conditions in the test. The analysis provided information for minor code improvements and necessary future work to reduce the uncertainty associated with the steam source specification.
