Abstract

When trying to model the chemical behaviour within a mine or rock system, there are several uncertainties to take into account. Among these are thermodynamic uncertainties and water composition uncertainties. Due to such uncertainties, results ought to be given as confidence intervals rather than fixed values. However, when dealing with uncertainties in thermodynamic data, it is important to remember that the uncertainty interval is not simply the uncertainty interval used in probabilistic calculations buth rather the interval determined when several investigations are compared.
