Abstract

Author would like to begin his contribution by referring to the theme of this volume, which is the relationship between physical place we inhabit or co-create, and the psychic, inner or spiritual space we are part of. It is from the vantage point of this relationship that his aim to reflect upon our lived experience of the Group Relations (GR) ecosystem in our different spaces and contexts. In what follows, he wish to address the relationship between our physical place and the psychic, inner, or spiritual space that we are part of, and to examine its implications to the present state of GR and the future directions it may take. Psychoanalysis was a major input that informed and saturated the newly created GR theory, methodology, and practice, along with Systems Theory. In the history of psychoanalysis as well, this was a period marked by the interplay of trauma and a struggle between rigidification and innovation.
