Abstract

Unbalanced load flow solution provides the initialisation of electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation model for the unbalanced active distribution network. The most electro-magnetic transient program (EMTP) software use the d–q-axis-based synchronous machine's parameters, so the existed sequence component-based model is not suitable for the EMT model initialisation. In this study, an unbalanced steady-state synchronous machine model is presented which is derived from the original dynamic model and its parameters are consistent with EMT dynamic model. It is more precise than the sequence component parameters based model. Furthermore, the saturation phenomenon of main flux is also considered in this model. The proposed model is validated and compared with Modelica simulation results.
