Abstract

While performing their regular activities, people need to communicate with other people about the results of those activities. One way of doing this is a public presentation. It is a specific communication process that transmits messages to other people by using various audio-visual effects. Today, the presentation is typically done with the support of specific software such as PowerPoint. However, the use of application software is not a guarantee of success, as the success of the presentation also depends on other elements in the communication process established between the presenter and the audience. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relevant aspects of presentation, in order to gain the principles which enable the creation of high-quality Power Point presentations. In this context, the paper makes recommendations for the successful organization of the presentation from the standpoint of technology, types, rules of successful design and preparations for the presentation. The results of this study indicate that, in addition to the quality of the design of the presentation, the effectiveness of the presentation is much influenced by the manner of the presenters, especially in terms of communication they establish with the audience. Past experience suggests that presenters did not pay sufficient attention to nonverbal communication, during the presentation itself. In conclusion, the paper points out that this is an area that represents a wide space convenient for improving the effectiveness of the presentation.
