Abstract
AbstractIodine‐mediated efficient synthesis of isatins in one‐pot from easily available 2‐ethylanilines using I2/TBHP and DMSO is developed via oxidation of sp3bond and intramolecular C−N bond formation. The reaction involves iodination, Kornblum oxidation and intramolecular amidation in a single reactor. The present method is simple under metal and base‐free conditions to access isatins in good yields (72‐84%).The method is also applicable for the synthesis of isatins from 2‐vinylanilines.
