Abstract

We begin here with the understanding that under refugee law as the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees) has pointed out: (1) one category of refugee asylum seekers is constituted of those who are persecuted on the basis of their membership in a ‘particular social group’; (2) there is no definitive exhaustive list of groups qualifying as (persecuted) ‘social groups’ in Refugee Convention terms and (3) for the latter reason and others “the term ‘membership of a particular social group’ should be read in an evolutionary manner”.
