A portrait of Saint Theresa of Avila by Risueno was recently discovered in a private collection in France. This portrait, signed and dated in 1695 is the earliest known painting done in Risuei'io's career. The Carmelite foundre's portrait here analysed is a magnificent example of Jose Risuenos' great talen!, who was admired by the Archbishop Martin de Ascargorta. Of great beauty, colourful and composition, it has flemish inspiration with possible influenccs in models of Peter Paul Rubens.
