Una posible traducción al italiano de una comedia heroica española del siglo XVIII: de El cadalso para su dueño, de Fermín Laviano, a Cimene Pardo, de Carlo Gozzi.

Abstract

In this paper, we will compare the Spanish play El cadalso para su dueno, by Manuel Fermin de Laviano, and Cimene Pardo, an Italian drama by Carlo Gozzi. First, we will point the role that each dramatist played in the translation of Italian plays to Spanish language, and vice versa. Next, we will offer the bibliographic information about the textual testimonies and premieres of each play. Then, we will contrast the characters, stage directions and plots of both plays. From the results of this comparative study, we propose that El cadalso para su dueno could be the resource used by Gozzi, and not recognised as it, for his writing of Cimene Pardo.
