Abstract

The interview with Edgardo Civallero aims to present to the international professional community some of the issues currently being discussed in the Latin American library environment, bringing attention to the debate and raising issues that may lead to further reflection and comparison. In particular, Civallero sets out the reasons why the current library model widely shared by the international professional community is ill-suited to the Latin American context, as an ‘imported’ model from outside that fails to safeguard and enhance indigenous Latin American cultures.
