Abstract

This paper aims to analyse the main traductological techniques of the work of Jean le Long d’Ypres (1351). I will consider the six translations of travel accounts as a single work. I will examine the prologues, the additions he makes to his Latin sources, his rewriting of several passages as well as his lexical choices and certain episodes containing references to contemporary events. This will enable me to identify his style as a translator and to offer a new hypothesis as to his readership.
