Abstract

Critical edition, with historical and philological introduction, of the Acta S. Gallonii, established from the only surviving MS., Libr. of the Episcopal Seminary of Gorizia, cod. 8 (xiiith Cent. [from Aquileia], f. 194r-196r). The text, which seems to be free of medieval interpolations, recounts the martyrdom of Gallonius and of two groups of Christians (of Timida Regia and of Utina, Africa) during the Diocletian persecution. This is one of the best-preserved hagiographical documents of the Great Persecution.
