Abstract

The liturgy composed in honour of St Millán, following the introduction of the Roman rite in Castile, is practically unknown in terms of the formularies of the Divine Office. The present article offers a critical edition of an unpublished office of the hermit saint found in two breviaries of the diocese of Calahorra dating back to the 15th and 16th cent. It also sets out the hermeneutical keys to its contents, production, and origin, assessing the arguments that relate it to the monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja).
