Abstract

The description and illustration of a new case of gynandromorphism in Xylocopa (Neoxylocopa) frontalis (Olivier) is presented from a single specimen collected in Tena, Cundinamarca, Colombia and currently deposited at the Museo Entomologico Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias,Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, Colombia (UNAB). In addition, an updated review and synthesis of the records of gynandromorphy in the subfamily Xylocopinae Latreille is provided. The specimen herein described belongs to the mosaic category of gynandromorphy and correspond tothe third record of this species.
