Abstract
A new Episernus from the French Alps (Col., Ptinidae, Ernobiinae). Episernus taygetanus alpestris ssp. nov. is described from the French southern-Alps. The aedeagus is drawn and the identification key for the European Episernus is updated. This specimen was found by beating a Pinus sylvestris, close to the Izoard pass, where was also discovered a new locality for E. angulicollis Thomson, 1863.
