Abstract
The medieval housing example presented here is very representative of the more general conclusions given by the study of the end of the Middle Ages houses in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône (Drôme). It is, moreover, characteristic of a quite common type of the Rhône middle valley house. The remains analysis and the excavations (courtyard) have permitted to clarify the different volumes articulations and their chronological development. The exceptional discovery of wall paintings and floorings (first floor) give some informations about the adjustings. Thus come to light clearly the transition from a simple fourteenth century house (long parcel, single room in each floor) to a new and more luxurious state (décorations, volumes modifications) at the end of the fifteenth century.
