Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to publicize the Ensayo de fonética general (1900) by Ramón Robles. In order to complete one of the most important chapters in the historiography of phonetics, this article deals with the context in which Ramón Robles developed his work, the repercussion it had, examining the objectives with which he composed his work, exposing the foundations and methods that he used and to show the sources that served as inspiration, all with the aim of contributing to the historiography of Spanish phonetics and phonology.
