Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a study on the poem ¿Para qué viniste?by Gabriela Mistral.We will examine howthe theme of motherly love was worked, from the analysis of the French philosopher Elisabeth Badinter. For this purpose, we divide our text intothree parts. In the first,Ipresented adefinition of the poem in prose, aiming to differentiate it from poetic prose.In the second, presenting a synthesis of theanalysis by Badinter about the theme.Finally,we analyze thetext,assuming that it isa representation of the myth of maternal love.
